The preface was a very brief summary of what's to come in the textbook. It was a very brief reading assignment and covered no actual material. That being said, it was very readable (probably because it did not introduce any new material). The one sentence that struck me while reading this chapter was the notion that “algorithms are a powerful lens through which to view the field of computer science in general.
