| | This section briefly introduces the idea of Algorithms and how they play a critical role in problem-solving in today's society. By providing examples of where algorithms lie in today's society, I can relate directly to the importance and purpose of algorithms in modern-day society. The preface also challenged an idea that I held previously: that their purpose is to solve problems in an efficient and clear-cut manner. The Preface suggests that algorithms let people express the underlying questions behind the problems that exist. I enjoyed reading over the ideas the book uses to open its approach to algorithms, and the author does a good job of exciting the reader with regards to algorithms as a whole. I would rate the interestingness/readability of this section as 9/10. |
